Chocolate Pretzel Reindeer
About this time in the holiday celebrations, I am spending my days baking.
I gift cookie and candy trays to a long list of loved ones. I also bring bakery boxes to parties, deliver to the cancer tower at the hospital, and I cannot forget the mail person and delivery drivers.
Each year, it seems I attempt to outdo my previous plates of treats. Adding last minute recipes as I think of them, forgoing the plan of the day to bake more!

Sweet and Salty Treats
Do you love that sweet and salty combination as much as I do? The salty pretzels and the roasted pecans are the perfect pairing with chocolate, in my humble opinion.
…and look how delightfully cute these deer look, piled up on an assortment of cookies and truffles!
A Chocolate Covered Pretzel Reindeer is a must for all holiday cookie trays.
Kid Friendly Holiday Craft
These Chocolate Covered Pretzel Reindeer fits the bill for that last minute add on. Not only are they incredibly quick and easy, these sweet and salty bites are super tasty!
Kids of all ages cannot help but smile at these.
If you don’t mind being covered in a mess of chocolate, assembling these sweet deer is a fun craft activity for kids. Set up assembly stations for each child (or adult – come on, it’s fun!), complete with a small bowl of sprinkles, a bowl of chocolate, pretzels and pecans and their own baking sheet or piece of parchment.
Have the kids break the pretzels and even set up how the reindeer might look, before dipping in chocolate. (This is also a good way to judge how much room you need for each reindeer on the parchment!)
How To Make Chocolate Pretzel Reindeer
These are an easy and fun food craft. Just a few ingredients and steps and you'll have your own Chocolate Pretzel Reindeer, too:
- arrange trays / cutting boards / flat surfaces: cover with parchment
- melt the chocolate: use a double boiler over low heat
- prep the pretzels: using stick pretzels, leave some full size, and break some for antler pieces
- dip and assemble: using your hands or forks, dip the pecan into chocolate for the reindeer head, place on parchment. then dip pretzels into chocolate and build antlers above the head.
- decorate! using sprinkles or whatever candy you prefer.
