Garlic Apple Juice
Garlic apple juice is actually tasty! A tall cold glass of this bright green juice is refreshing, and is full of beneficial nutrients and flavor.
Seriously. I know some are side eyeing this one, but I find the garlic flavor to be mild and quite tasty. Milage will vary, of course, based on size and freshness of the garlic, and sweetness of the apples and bell pepper. You do have to enjoy garlic flavor to enjoy garlic apple juice.
I juice every day, and inevitably get creative with ingredients. I literally look around the kitchen thinking, can I juice this? I only share my good juicing combinations, because just know that honestly, they haven't all been good.
Garlic apple juice brings the savory and sweet, and a variety of nutritional benefits.
Benefits of juicing garlic
One of the main benefits of garlic for me? Garlic is a natural anti inflammatory. Garlic is rich in the active compound allicin, a potent anti inflammatory agent.
Garlic is a powerful medicinal herb with many other nutritional and health benefits. In addition to being rich in potassium, calcium, iron and amino acids, garlic is a great source of vitamins and minerals.
A good source of vitamins B6 and C, garlic is also a natural antibiotic, anti microbial and immune booster, and may support lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.
Learn more about allicin and garlic as a heart health booster.
How many raw garlic cloves each day?
As much as I love garlic, I limit my raw cloves to one a day. My doctor says the general rule is no more than two raw cloves of garlic a day, or about 4 grams. Too much raw garlic may cause heartburn or acid reflux.
How to juice garlic
A twin gear juicer is what I use for my daily juice. Peel the garlic and juice it first, using the apples to push the garlic remnants through after.
If you do not have a juicer, you can still get the nutritional benefits with a high speed blender. Blend the peeled garlic with apples at highest speed until smooth, pouring through a fine mesh strainer if needed.
If you are skeptical or don't care for the bold flavor of garlic in your juice, I have suggestions if you want to juice garlic for the health benefits!

I just made a garlic smoothie in a blender with spinach, frozen fruit and OJ. It was absolutely delicious!! Who would have thought to put raw garlic in a smoothie!!! So healthy, and so yummy! I can see a great habit forming here! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
spabettie says
you are so welcome, Amanda! so glad you like it too - and it absolutely is habit forming - when I first tried it I was having it daily! VERY good for you, but you should limit 1-2 raw cloves per day!
Michael says
this sounds interesting enough that I will try it!!
spabettie says
I hope you do - the garlic is GOOD! 🙂
Pam says
I just juiced two small tomatoes along with a bunch of kale, carrots, garlic (1 clove), celery and lemon. Hit it w/ a bit of salt and ground black pepper. It was absolutely delish!
spabettie says
that sounds wonderful - and adding pepper!!?? I need to try that! 😀
wendi murray says
Yes thats the one. Its not the weight issue but the energy problem we have. My husband works way too much and has no energy ever!
Thanks for your help!
spabettie says
you are welcome! for us it was about energy, too - we didn't have any of the issues they do in the movie, just wanted to "clean up" you know? 🙂 good luck to you!
wendi murray says
Can you suggest a good juicer that is easily mobile.
We watched a doc on juicing and I want my husband to juice at work.
The cheaper the better tho!
BTW, I'm going to look at all your juice recipes later tonight! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
spabettie says
hi Wendi! was the documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead by any chance? it's a good one, just curious. 🙂 if it was that film, we have the same juicer as Joe Cross, the main guy. it's the breville juice fountain plus ( see it here --> breville ) it is pretty well priced compared to others, and it's very efficient. we've been juicing with ours DAILY for a year, sometimes multiple times, and it is still like new. we love it. you may also be able to find one like it on eBay, or craigslist? see if someone might be selling one?
and you are SO welcome - I'm happy to help! please let me know if you have any questions, and have fun!
Charissa says
Wow, I might just have to try this!!! I need some garlic in my system...I have a cold (sniff, sniff).
spabettie says
haa, Charissa! I think you were leaving this comment about the time I was posting today's afternoon juice - another garlic one --> garlic veggie juice. now you have a choice of recipes! 🙂 I hope you're feeling great again soon - this juice should help!!
janette says
hi spabettie im janet how many times can i drink this garlic apple bell juice? and what the exact amount of? i really want to try it because i know garlic is really help. thank you!
spabettie says
hi Janette,
I would only use one raw garlic clove each day - you do not want to overdo raw garlic. this recipe makes one (approximate) 6-8 ounce glass, which is plenty for one day. enjoy!
Andreas says
Nice idea.
Years ago when I started juicing I had a severe cold and read Dr. Norman Walkers book. He recommended garlic and onion against such colds.
So, in my young optimism, I juiced app. 10 - 15 garlic cloves and 1 onion and some carrots for the 'flavor'. It smelled strong and it was the first juice that I didn't completely emptied.
Half through I got some strong effects ... 😉 stomache, cramps and lastly I had to vomit. Then everything was fine.
Therefore one or two gloves a day seems fine. :-))
spabettie says
ooh, you'll never do that again! 😉 glad it was short lived and you were okay. I don't do more than one clove at a time, and two per day is GOOD. 😀
hihorosie says
gorgeous! Will help in keeping those vampires away. 😉 I love garlic in my juices - I like to switch between savory and sweet.
spabettie says
the garlic is SO good!! - I forgot about the vampire benefit! 😀
maggie says
I love creative juicers, because I'm one myself. But yours sound outrageously delish. Love your photos!
