Garlic Apple Juice
Garlic apple juice is actually tasty! A tall cold glass of this bright green juice is refreshing, and is full of beneficial nutrients and flavor.
Seriously. I know some are side eyeing this one, but I find the garlic flavor to be mild and quite tasty. Milage will vary, of course, based on size and freshness of the garlic, and sweetness of the apples and bell pepper. You do have to enjoy garlic flavor to enjoy garlic apple juice.
I juice every day, and inevitably get creative with ingredients. I literally look around the kitchen thinking, can I juice this? I only share my good juicing combinations, because just know that honestly, they haven't all been good.
Garlic apple juice brings the savory and sweet, and a variety of nutritional benefits.
Benefits of juicing garlic
One of the main benefits of garlic for me? Garlic is a natural anti inflammatory. Garlic is rich in the active compound allicin, a potent anti inflammatory agent.
Garlic is a powerful medicinal herb with many other nutritional and health benefits. In addition to being rich in potassium, calcium, iron and amino acids, garlic is a great source of vitamins and minerals.
A good source of vitamins B6 and C, garlic is also a natural antibiotic, anti microbial and immune booster, and may support lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.
Learn more about allicin and garlic as a heart health booster.
How many raw garlic cloves each day?
As much as I love garlic, I limit my raw cloves to one a day. My doctor says the general rule is no more than two raw cloves of garlic a day, or about 4 grams. Too much raw garlic may cause heartburn or acid reflux.
How to juice garlic
A twin gear juicer is what I use for my daily juice. Peel the garlic and juice it first, using the apples to push the garlic remnants through after.
If you do not have a juicer, you can still get the nutritional benefits with a high speed blender. Blend the peeled garlic with apples at highest speed until smooth, pouring through a fine mesh strainer if needed.
If you are skeptical or don't care for the bold flavor of garlic in your juice, I have suggestions if you want to juice garlic for the health benefits!

I think that sounds like a great combo!
I like to make smoothies all the time. I start with:
1 banana, then add 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, 1/4 cup walnuts, and 1/2 cup of pineapple, coconut water OR orange juice. I call it my Blue Hawaii!

i just started experimenting with juicing garlic recently and I must say, not too shabby! I wouldn't go overboard though. Ha. ginger is still my fav though 😉
spabettie says
yes, I recently read that one should have no more than 2 raw garlic cloves a day... pretty powerful! I'm sticking to my one.

Kath (My Funny Little Life) says
Wow wow wow! 😀 I love garlic, but I never dared to put it into a smoothie or drink (I don't have a juicer, boo). I just wonder ... Would you have this for breakfast on a work day? 😀
Anyway anyway anyway, my weirdest thing to drink (not juiced, as I don't have a juicer - have I mentioned that already? :D) was coke with milk. I was a child, and I wanted to make up something disgusting, so I came up with this. And it was totally disgusting - *so* disgusting that I had to try it again a few weeks later to convince myself *how* disgusting it was. 🙂
spabettie says
NO! not likely for breakfast, I would not want to offend anyone. 😀 coke and milk really does sound... gross! 😉
Rachel (teacher-chef) says
My grandmother's favorite treat was coke & milk... kinda like a Coke Float (I hate cola, but love it this way)!!!
Do you think that you could make this type smoothie just in a blender? It sounds awesome in that strange "I just can't wait" way - but I do not have a juicer either!
Maryea {Happy Healthy Mama} says
Wow you are hard core drinking raw garlic! I'm impressed.
assistantdoc says
How do you juice your garlic. Do you have a masticating juicer? My juicer is a centrifigal one but also has teeth. Don't know how it would do with garlic.
spabettie says
Sarah, my juicer is also centrifugal. I have added garlic peeled of the papery skin, and also have left it on. It works fine!
