Reuben Rolls
A while back, my original reuben rolls recipe went through a few updates. First, I baked them instead of pan-frying. While this method works well and is easily oil-free, I now use the air fryer! Oil-free, super crispy, quick, and easy! This recipe has instructions for an air fryer, oven baking, and pan-fry methods.
The other change I made to the original recipe is that I now use
jackfruit in place of chickpeas. I still love jackfruit and add it to whatever I can. You will want to use forks to shred the jackfruit so that it take son the appearance of cabbage in this recipe. It's so much easier than finely chopping the jackfruit to make it small enough.
What are Reuben Rolls?
These reuben rolls are a delicious vegan, gluten-free alternative to the traditional sandwich.
Reuben rolls are could also be called reuben egg rolls. And, while some people make Reuben Cabbage Rolls, this version has no cabbage. Instead, the jackfruit makes a delicious base to the recipe.
And, since you soak the shredded jackfruit in the vegan Thousand Island Dressing, it takes on the flavor and texture of this traditional sandwich. You'll want to serve some extra dressing on the side to dip your Reuben Rolls in. You won't believe how good these are! They are by far one of our favorite appetizer recipes.
Can you freeze these rolls?
Yes, you can freeze these vegan reuben rolls.
Place these egg rolls in a freezer bag and seal it tightly. To help keep them from getting soggy, wrap them in aluminum foil first. They should stay good for up to four months frozen this way. Then, take them out and defrost them in the refrigerator. To reheat them, put them in the air fryer or oven until warmed through.
Reuben Roll storage tips
If you'd rather not freeze these, you can keep leftovers in the refrigerator. Store them in a container with a tightly fitting lid. The leftovers will stay good for three to four days. To help prevent them from getting soggy, place a paper towel in the bottom of the container. Reheat as above in either an air fryer or crisp up in the oven.

I don't know what jackfruit tastes like, but I love all the other ingredients in these rolls, especially the dill pickles! Love how crispy they look too.
Kristina Sloggett says
jackfruit does not have a lot of flavor. much like tofu, it takes on the flavor of whatever marinade / sauce you pair it with. and thanks! we love these, oh so crispy good! 🙂
