Why you'll love this recipe
Brightly colored and gooey sweet, these rainbow Trix crispies are the hit of any party! Easy to make and so much more fun than a traditional crispy treat. Using the traditional recipe of marshmallows, melted butter, and crisp rice cereal, you can substitute just about any cereal and the marshmallow "glue" will hold it together.
In addition to the Trix cereal, I have added orange juice and zest to enhance the fruity flavor of the cereal.
For more unique treats, see these holiday rice crispies that include tart cranberries and pistachios.
Is Trix cereal gluten free?
The cereal made by General Mills in the United States and North America is not labeled gluten free. Looking at the label, the General Mills version of Trix cereal appears to be gluten free, and contains no gluten ingredients.
The Trix cereal made by Nestle for other countries is also gluten free.

spabettie says
haa - I think Voodoo has one with Trix, or Fruit Loops or something. yeah, these are better 😉 I hope to see you too, I've been incredibly busy but things will hopefully be calmer around then... XXO!

You are a genius. I love that you used Trix and added orange zest. I'm sure it made the flavor really pop!
spabettie says
I like to add things like that to my crispies - citrus zest, cardamom, all kinds of weird yum 🙂

pretty sure trix are not gluten-free. looked it up and they have wheat starch. you might want to alter the recipe notes to not say gluten-free. wouldn't want anyone to get sick.

hi Bitt,
my box (there is a new "swirled" formulation) does not have the wheat starch or any wheat ingredients - I read the ingredient list before I bought it. I also googled before actually labeling this recipe gluten free, and saw many celiac forums talking about how it does not have any wheat/gluten ingredients, and many people have consumed it safely (while others said they could not).
while the ingredients in the box I used were corn and rice, I did remove the gluten free label because the box does not have a gf designation, and I learned a long time ago that people do not read.
Thanks!
