After going gluten free, I had a bit of a hard time. I missed bread. A buttery piece of toast. A crusty baguette with brie and Chianti.
A Perfect Sandwich.
I remember the first time I was reunited with a baguette. A loaf of sourdough. It was when I discovered Portland’s dedicated gluten free bakery, New Cascadia Traditional. New Cascadia employs traditional bread baking techniques and cooks in a proper deck oven.
So every now and then, I get a loaf of their sourdough or seeded bread. Then I go crazy and eat nothing but sandwiches. 🙂
This weekend I had three of my favorite sandwich – a BLTA – bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Seriously the best flavors, and writing this and posting the photos, I want another one right now.
So so good. A Honey Basil beer made it even better!
