    Ginger Orange Green Juice?

Today I have a VERY IMPORTANT revelation related to juicing!

Jason walks into the kitchen last night with a theory about the workings of our juicer, saying it would be more effective if I pushed the produce slowly. This way the centrifugal motion remains at a high speed, producing more juice (the harder you push the plunger the slower the blade and filter go 'round).

I gathered the same amount of produce for our evening juice - half a pineapple, several carrots and broccoli trees, celery and a cucumber.

I juiced everything s l o w l y and filled up the pitcher with less than usual - half the broccoli and cucumber were left over!

Jason said "wow - I feel like an engineer again!" 😉

Perhaps this is common knowledge, but if it isn't I wanted to impart his wisdom so everyone could benefit! It really was a big difference.

This morning's juice was simple to make and complex in flavors. The oranges I have right now are some of the best this season - vibrant and sunny!

    ginger orange juice

    serves one

    2 oranges, peeled
    1 large bunch kale
    1 - inch piece ginger

Juice and try not to smile enjoy!

    Happy Friday!

I turned on the juicer to the highest speed, then I placed the vegetable in the chute and pushed down with the plunger VERY SLOW. you can listen to the motor - try to keep the motor sound at the same level, don't let it "slow down" by pushing to fast.

smart boy! I do try to juice slowly just so as to be gentle with the juicer but not actually realizing I'd be getting more juice that way. Wow, genius! I'm going to have to try this concoction. We've got some kale to use. 🙂

yes, it's good on the juicer too, just keeping things running smooth, I'm sure! I do think I'm getting quite a bit more juice than before. Enjoy this one - I love it!

ive got giant hunks of ginger in my fridge and have no idea what to do with them.

wonder if this would work in a regular old blender???

definitely going to give it a whirl!

it might work, but I would use VERY little ginger at first - it's really strong and if it's all staying in there blended, it will be potent! 🙂 let me know how it goes! did you find out who Bill Bowerman is yet? 😀
