This morning, with the window open to the cool fall morning, I am feeling that Back To School nostalgia, a new beginnings of sorts.
With the wedding happening tomorrow, EAK tomorrow, the planning is complete. My work with Dad’s estate is nearly over. Another large project turned into a smaller collaboration, leaving me to some travel and some new exciting projects and plans.
One of those plans is on health and fitness – I am taking a cue from Dr. Oz this fall and Bringing Healthy Back. While I always eat kind of sort of healthy, I feel best when I eat my kind of healthy all the time. Juicing often, not in place of food but in addition to it. Raw foods and fresh, whole foods made simply. With all that has been going on this last year, my healthy eating and my workouts have taken the back seat.
It is time to bring these aspects back into the front seat, so to speak. The drivers seat. Everything else in my life always works better when I am feeling great, and when I am active.
My Bringing Healthy Back goals include resume daily workouts. While I do get walks in every day with Rosemary, and treadmill runs most days too, I have been wanting to get back into the weight room with my trainer, and back to walking, hiking and biking – fun activities that aren’t at all work.
The healthy eating aspect will include more dinners at home. While I obviously love to cook, we also live in this fabulous culinary city. Our dining out will still happen, but I am excited to get back into the kitchen. My spinach pancakes will make a comeback, whether as a green sweet stack for breakfast, or as a sandwich bread substitute. We will also enjoy other favorites like my salad rolls:
I’ve talked about the time I was taking care of Dad, and how he got me hooked on Days of Our Lives. I still watch it at least once a week.
Another show Dad always watched was Dr. Oz. If I wasn’t at Dad’s for the whole day anyway, I would schedule my day to arrive around noon. I would make us lunch, and Dr. Oz would come on. Dad would often text me about what Dr. Oz was going to be talking about, the make sure you are here today kind of text.
In fact, I have received those calls from Mom also. She still does it.
The new season of Dr. Oz begins Monday, and he is also focusing on Bringing Healthy Back. This will help me stay motivated with my current goals, as I have always enjoyed the way this show approaches health and wellness information in an entertaining way. Before we leave town, we have some time at home to relax and for me, complete a couple projects. I always have the television on, and I am looking forward to watching the new Dr Oz. shows next week.
You know, after the ceremony.
Dr. Oz is bringing healthy back. All new episodes start September 8. Watch each weekday for important health and wellness information delivered in a fun and easy-to-understand way. To find your local time and channel, visit DoctorOz.
