Why you'll love this recipe
Brightly colored and gooey sweet, these rainbow Trix crispies are the hit of any party! Easy to make and so much more fun than a traditional crispy treat. Using the traditional recipe of marshmallows, melted butter, and crisp rice cereal, you can substitute just about any cereal and the marshmallow "glue" will hold it together.
In addition to the Trix cereal, I have added orange juice and zest to enhance the fruity flavor of the cereal.
For more unique treats, see these holiday rice crispies that include tart cranberries and pistachios.

The cereal made by General Mills in the United States and North America is not labeled gluten free. Looking at the label, the General Mills version of Trix cereal appears to be gluten free, and contains no gluten ingredients.

These should be illegal, like the fruity pebbles version of these I made earlier this year. What does the stevia add? I cannot imagine needing additional sweetness with something this sweet
spabettie says
you're right, Lacey, these absolutely do not need more sweet - I just wanted some orange flavor to go with the zest. it was a nice layer of fruity flavor.
Caralyn @ glutenfreehappytummy says

Best wishes to your friend! I hope the new journey treats her well!
Those treats look like so much fun! It's kind of amazing what orange zest does to foods. I put some orange zest on cantaloup before and it completely brightened the flavors. I bet this did the same to all the fruity flavors of the cereal. YUM!
spabettie says
thanks, Sarena! she is off on a great new adventure, for sure.
Mmm, orange zest on cantaloupe, I will have to try that. complete opposite of this, right? 😉
