Grapefruit Thyme Mimosa-Ritas

ah, summertime.

It truly is my favorite time of year. Longer, warmer days equal more time outdoors, fresh creations with garden ingredients, cool cocktails with friends.

Sitting out in the evening, relaxing while the daylight leaves and the yard’s nightlights come on. Frogs in the pond croak now and then, causing the dogs to jump off our laps and snif snif snif in search of the frog…

Grapefruit Thyme Margaritas

My latest libation creation is a fusion of two favorites – mimosas and margaritas. Fresh herbs from the garden (the thyme came back from last year!) mix well with bubbly and my favorite reposado tequila.

Follow me over to Kim’s place for my recipe: Grapefruit Thyme Mimosa-Ritas.

Cheers!

Southern Belle-ini

For all of the holiday festivities, to ring in the new year, even kicking back on a Sunday for the football game – you know I have the food and drink all planned out.

It seems every time I throw a party, there are some tried and true standards that always come to play. Our favorites (um, my favorites? okay).

Even so, I do like to mix it up and wow people with something new. I have another Foodie collection to share with you, this time it is my Top 16 Cocktail Party Recipes of 2013. Hand held nibbles, things to dip and dip in to, a savory stuffed waffle and a stuffed avocado. Bright and pretty drinks, festive and fruity, this list is sure to inspire.

Because even if it is football, it can still be a cocktail party.

If you cannot see the slideshow, click here to see the whole collection.

apricot cider shandy

veganmofo

Last October, Jason and I snuck away for a weekend at the beach. We stopped at the store to stock our hotel room kitchen, and this turned into an impromptu cider tasting weekend. We each selected several pints of cider, some we knew we liked, some based on the pretty wrapping. Come on, you do the same thing, admit it.

There were a couple that I recall thinking [click to continue…]

Southern Belle-ini

Last summer I was beyond thrilled to work with BACARDI® on a series of parties, recipes and more parties. When I had the opportunity again this summer, I did not hesitate to say yes.

This time it gets big – one of the BACARDI® mixologists made a spabettie signature cocktail. Just for me, based on my personality, style, and how I answered their questions. Unreal. Like I said, beyond thrilled.

They sent me the custom recipe and a [click to continue…]

Sauza-rita

In college I had a friend whose favorite holiday was Cinco de Mayo. It was a big holiday for her – she and her family would get together and celebrate this important day, and I was always lucky enough to be invited.

Cinco de Mayo is less prominent for me these days, but I [click to continue…]

blood orange tequila floats

Cheers! Today is National Margarita Day. and it falls on a Friday this year? How fortuitous for us.

Tequila now reminds me of Mexico, and the time Jason and I spent there just over a year ago, backpacking up the coast for a few weeks. I really learned to love tequila during that trip – learning about the different kinds (my favorite being reposado), and tasting many labels. From spending the afternoon at the beach sipping shots to cheersing on our anniversary at one of my favorite restaurants, some great memories…

Now when we enjoy a nice sipping tequila or even a margarita, we always say, “Tastes like Mexico…
