perfect labor day party

by Kristina Sloggett

in appetizers, cocktails, grilling, summertime

I am going to be incredibly cliché in declaring I cannot believe Labor Day is this Monday.

Totally snuck up on me this year.

We are planning a small shindig, and I am mixing classy with lowbrow, cocktail party with casual barbeque.

We really just want a low key comfortable thing – friends over grilling and chilling. A couple friends can only come for a short time, so I decided to split it up and have a little cocktail thing beforehand. Hey, any chance I can dress it up and use my shiny chic accessories, I will take it.

I also wanted another reason to make those stuffed caperberries.

I am also excited to use that vegan goat cheese for these:

apricot goat cheese fig crisps

There will be cocktails and nibbles at what I could probably call the pre-funk?

Then we head outside, kick off the shoes, pull up a comfortable chair and fire up the grill.

Because I keep looking at photos of these, cannot stop thinking about them, have wanted to make them again since the first two times we had them:

wiener wraps

Yes, our Labor Day party will feature wiener wraps. I am so excited for them.

and it has been too long since we had grilled jalapeno poppers:

Are you doing anything on Labor Day or over the three day weekend?

Everything looks delicious… But I’m totally mesmerized by that caper berry graphic. So cool! How did you do that?!

that is very easy – google “gif maker” and you’ll find a bunch! you upload photos and it makes the graphic, gives you a code! :)

I know… it was too short this time. I hate that I sound like an old person, talking about how time flies. ;)

Showing up at your place for Labor Day, that’s what I’m doing ;D Okay, okay–in my imagination. In reality? I’ll be working. On labor day. Fitting, right? But then maybe making some pigs in a blanket, ’cause I’ve been craving them since you posted them last, too! If I can hold off on buying a Groupon for trashy Chinese buffet for my cheat meal this week instead.
